    A buzzer-beater from A’ja Wilson gave the Las Vegas Aces a 77-75 victory over the Chicago Sky on Sunday at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

    Wilson responded humorously to the play afterward:

    The incredible performance came after Chennedy Carter capped a frantic Sky comeback with a three-pointer with 1.1 seconds left on the clock.

    For Wilson, there was too much time on the clock.

    Aces head coach Becky Hammon came up with the perfect play to give the 6-foot-3 forward a scoring opportunity under the basket, and she made the most of it.

    Wilson, who finished with 20 points, 18 rebounds and three blocks, is in the midst of another historic season. On Sunday, she found another way to wow fans Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and others.

    Things weren’t looking good early on for the two-time reigning WNBA champions. They were up just 32-30 at halftime, and their offense was too focused on their two-time WNBA MVP. Wilson had fired 20 shots in the first two quarters.

    The chemistry between the players is absolutely not good on the field. A’ja plays in a class of her own and her teammates do not rise with her.

    Neither team could separate the game in the third period, with the score tied at 52-52. The Aces looked to be firmly in control as their lead grew to double digits midway through the final period. The Sky, however, refused to throw in the towel and kept fighting to nearly force overtime.

    Angel Reese delivered another monster performance in a losing game, grabbing 20+ rebounds (22) for the third straight game and adding 11 points for her 22nd double-double of the season, tying Tina Charles’ record for most double-doubles by a rookie.

    Few players are as eager to do the dirty work behind the basket as the player selected in the first round of the draft.

    As for the outcome, it was one the Aces really needed. Las Vegas had lost four of its last five and Hammon is still trying to figure it out her best setup amid the team’s recent decline.

    It would have been worrying if they had lost out to Sky, who are in eighth place.

    The Aces are still just half a game back of fourth place and have a golden opportunity to maintain this momentum with winnable games against the Dallas Wings and Atlanta Dream coming up.
