AEW clash and Battle of the Belts XI take blow against Olympics

AEW’s three-hour Saturday programming block saw a decline in ratings compared to the Olympics.

Saturday’s edition of Collision from Esports Stadium in Arlington averaged 382,000 viewers and 159,000 (0.12) in the 18-49 demographic, according to Wrestlenomics.

The show aired against the backdrop of NBC’s Olympic coverage, drawing 32.4 million viewers across all platforms, including NBC, USA Network and Peacock.

Collision also aired during the UFC 304 prelims on ESPN.

The show fell 19 percent in total viewership, with an 18 percent drop in the core audience. In the 18-49 demo, male viewership fell from 145,000 to 110,000, while female viewership grew 2 percent from 48,000 to 49,000.

The 18-34 demographic fell by 46 percent last Saturday – from 67,000 to 36,000, led by a 57 percent drop among men and a 24 percent drop among women.

In the 35-49 age category there was a small decrease of two percent, as the number of men fell from 99,000 to 90,000, while the number of women in this category increased by 22 percent.

Battle of the Belts XI followed Collision at 10:00 p.m. ET and averaged 308,000 total viewers and 124,000 (0.09) in the 18-49 demographic, according to Wrestlenomics.

In the 18-49 demo, the number of women dropped from 49,000 during Collision to 32,000, and the number of men dropped from 110,000 to 92,000.

The third hour dropped from 36,000 to 28,000 in the 18-34 demo, and from 123,000 to 96,000 in the 35-40 demo.

Saturday’s Battle of the Belts had the lowest ratings of the 11 specials since January 2022 and the second lowest number of viewers in the 18-49 category, behind Battle of the Belts 9, which averaged 117,000 viewers on January 13, 2024.

The final Battle of the Belts special aired on April 13, immediately following Collision, and averaged 422,000 viewers and 145,000 (0.11) in the demo the night of the UFC 300 pay-per-view.
