49er Ricky Pearsall was reportedly shot during a robbery; the robber was also shot

Multiple sources within the San Francisco Police Department tell Mission Local that San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot today during a botched robbery attempt in Union Square. Three shots were reportedly fired, one of which struck the 23-year-old in the shoulder.

Pearsall is said to have fought with his attacker, who was also shot during the struggle. Mission Local is told both the attacker and the weapon are now in police custody.

A police source tells Mission Local that Pearsall fought with his attacker, who was shot in the hand during the struggle over the gun. Pearsall reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to his chest, but not to his major organs.

In 2017, Ray-Ray Armstrong and Reuben Foster, then members of the 49ers, outwitted two would-be armed robbers after leaving a club near today’s incident.

This is a current story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
