This is an excellent deal on the best Airpods earbuds and the lowest price we’ve seen for the second-generation model. In fact, it’s currently cheaper than the Apple AirPods 4 with noise cancellation, and for most people the AirPods Pro 2 is the better choice.

The second-generation AirPods Pro earbuds are largely identical to their predecessor, with one major exception. The new model replaces the older Lightning port with a more universal USB Type-C port. This is a solution for people who want to take one charging cable with them for all their mobile devices. Two other more trivial upgrades include dust resistance and lossless audio support when paired with Apple’s Vision Pro headset.

Even with the release of the new AirPods 4 earbuds, the AirPods Pro are the best sounding “true wireless” earbuds for iPhone users thanks to their low distortion driver and amplifier combined with the Apple H2 chip. In addition to active noise cancellation, the Pro features “Adaptive Transparency Mode” to pick up ambient sounds so you can hear your surroundings, and “Conversation Mode” that automatically lowers the volume, enhancing the voices of the people you’re talking to.

Should you buy the AirPods Pro over AirPods 4 with ANC?

With a few exceptions, this question is easy to answer. The AirPods Pro 2 is simply a superior earbud for a lower price. Although the AirPods 4 have active noise cancellation like the AirPods Pro, they are an open-ear earbud with fixed (non-adjustable eartips). It is intended to sit outside the ear, which means there is a lot of sound leakage and ambient noise. The AirPods Pro’s in-ear eartips, combined with the custom fit of the adjustable eartips, provide a better seal, better passive isolation and in turn better sound quality. The only reason you should choose the AirPods 4 is if you don’t like the inherently intrusive nature of in-ear earbuds in general.
