LOS ANGELES – Country star Garth Brooks is accused of raping a makeup artist.

This is stated in a statement from the alleged victim Jane RoeBrooks’ attorney is accused of “inappropriate conduct” in 2019 when Roe was at the country singer’s home for a styling appointment.

According to the lawsuit filed on October 3 in Los Angeles County, Brooks was named the suspect in the alleged “painful and traumatic rape and sexual assault” of Roe during the 2019 incident.

Following news of the lawsuit, Garth Brooks’ publicist released a statement saying the singer has been the victim of “threats, lies and tragic stories.”

Below is a statement on behalf of Brooks:

“Over the past two months, I have been harassed endlessly with threats, lies and tragic stories about what my future would be if I did not write a multi-million dollar check. It was like waving a loaded gun. in my face.

Hush money, no matter how much or how little it is, is still hush money. In my eyes, this means admitting to behavior that I am not capable of: ugly actions that no human should do to another.

We filed suit against this individual almost a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We submitted it anonymously, in the interest of the families on both sides.

“I want to make music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds in the future. It breaks my heart that these wonderful things are now being questioned. I trust the system, I’m not afraid of the truth, and I’m not the man who they have painted me to be.”

Roe’s legal team released the following statement regarding the alleged rape case against Brooks:

“We applaud our client’s courage in moving forward with her complaint against Garth Brooks. The complaint filed today shows that sexual predators exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood, and the rap and rock ‘n’ roll industries, but also in the world of country music. We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions and that his attempts to silence our client by filing a preemptive complaint in Mississippi was nothing more than an act of desperation and attempted intimidation. We encourage others who may have been victimized to contact us as no survivor should suffer in silence.”
