The Detroit Tigers are on top of the world after their promotion to the ALDS.

Andy Ibáñez hit a three-run double with two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the eighth inning to propel the Tigers to a 5-2 victory over the Houston Astros in Game 2 of the AL wild-card series. With the win, the Tigers advance to the ALDS to face the Cleveland Guardians.

After the game, Tigers players celebrated their first playoff series victory in 11 years, with champagne and beer showers that began with a speech from manager AJ Hinch, who led his team to a sweep against his old ball club. Before the festivities began, Hinch dropped what will go down as an iconic line in history associated with this team.

“Someone’s made the Tigers hot,” Hinch said as he uncorked a bottle.

The team also showered Hall of Fame shortstop and 1984 World Series MVP Alan Trammell with beer in the middle of the locker room. Trammell is a special assistant to the general manager.

Before the celebration, Hinch told reporters in Houston that Wednesday’s win was the playoff moment you live for in baseball. He also included a message that should make every Tiger fan listen.

“The mental grind of the season and putting it all together for this group, this team, and not just being satisfied with getting to the playoffs, but winning a playoff series and getting to play against a known team” , Hinch told reporters. “I am forever grateful to be a Detroit Tiger.”
