Buffalo Bills pass rusher Von Miller was suspended for four games Tuesday for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, the league announced.

Miller will now miss the Bills’ next four games and will be eligible for reinstatement on October 28.

Although it was not specifically announced, the suspension likely stems from Miller’s domestic violence offense last fall. Miller turned himself in to police in Texas last November on suspicion of assaulting a pregnant woman, which is a third-degree felony. Miller was accused of assaulting his longtime girlfriend and the mother of his children at their shared home in Dallas. Miller allegedly strangled his girlfriend twice during an argument, pulled out a strand of hair and stomped on her laptop.

Miller’s girlfriend downplayed the incident and denied there was any assault. Miller later said the allegations were completely false and had been “blown out of proportion.” The case was eventually closed without charges being filed. The NFL has been investigating ever since.

Miller was also investigated for domestic violence in 2021 while playing for the Denver Broncos. He was not charged for that incident either.

Miller is in the third year of a six-year, $120 million deal with the Bills. The 35-year-old has played in all four of their games this season and has totaled five tackles and three sacks while helping Buffalo to a 3-1 start. Because of his suspension, Miller will miss Buffalo’s game against the Houston Texans this weekend, followed by games against the New York Jets, Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks. He will be able to return for the Bills’ game against the Miami Dolphins on November 3.
