Service issues reported by thousands on Monday

Verizon is investigating a service issue that led to more than 100,000 outage reports Monday morning.

According to Downdetector, a website that tracks technical outages, more than 100,000 customers claimed they lost service around 11 a.m. ET.

Verizon said the company is “aware of an issue impacting service for some customers.”

“Our technicians are engaged and we are working quickly to resolve the issue,” spokesperson Ilya Hemlin told USA TODAY on Monday.

Some users took to social media to question the apparent service outage.

“Is @Verizon out of reach for anyone else right now? My service disappeared at 10am and no amount of rebooting or switching to + off airplane mode helps with the signal,” one person wrote on X Monday.

Verizon’s customer service account on X, @VerizonSupport, responded to dozens of users reporting service issues Monday morning.

This is a development story.
