Saints’ Alvin Kamara (hip, ribs) active for Falcons game

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is active for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons despite suffering hip and rib injuries.

Kamara, who is listed as questionable, is from Atlanta and did not want to sit out a hometown game against an NFC South rival, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Saints star wide receiver Chris Olave is also active despite being listed as questionable due to a hamstring injury. A source told Schefter on Saturday that Olave will test hamstrings during pre-match warmups, but the Saints are “confident” he will play on Sunday.

Kamara enters Sunday as the fourth-leading rusher in the NFL with 285 yards in three games. In 13 career games against the Falcons, he has rushed for 802 yards on 174 carries (4.6 yards per carry) with three touchdowns.

After opening the season with two wins, outscoring their opponents 91-29, the Saints struggled on offense and fell to 2-1 in a 15-12 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last week.

The Falcons (1-2) are coming off a 22-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
