    After a disappointing start to the 2024 college football season, Florida State Football finally got going this past weekend with a win over Cal.

    The Seminoles, who opened as the No. 10 team in the U.S. LBM Coaches Poll, opened the season with three straight losses but posted a 14-9 victory over the Bears last week to move to 1-3. On Saturday, FSU (1-3, 1-2 ACC) will welcome a second straight team making its ACC debut when it travels to SMU.

    Saturday’s ACC matchup between the Seminoles and Mustangs will be the first time these programs have ever faced off, making it even more enticing for FSU’s first real road game. The Seminoles opened the season in Ireland before playing three straight games at Doak Campbell Stadium.

    The Mustangs (3-1) are coming off a dominant 66-42 victory over rival TCU in the Battle for the Iron Skillet last weekend. Running back Breshard Smith finished with 127 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the win, while the Mustang defense and special teams scored on a punt return, fumble return and interception return in the win.

    The Seminoles and Mustangs will face off in a nationally televised game on the ACC Network.
