No winner in duel between Swiss defenders Fabian Schär and Manuel Akanji: The match between Newcastle United and Manchester City ended 1-1. Josko Gvardiol put the visitors ahead in the first half, Anthony Gordon equalized in the 58th minute. The 23-year-old Englishman converted the penalty he had taken himself. Schär, who retired from the national team after the European Championship, continued to play, as did Akanji, who last played as Swiss captain.

It was the first defeat of the season for the team of 31-year-old coach Fabian Hürzeler, who has both a Swiss and a German passport.

Brentford’s speedy starters struck again. For the third time in a row, the West London team scored a goal in the first minute of the match – a first in the Premier League. However, Brentford failed to win any of these three matches. After defeats against Manchester City (1-2) and Tottenham (1-3), the result was a 1-1 draw at home against West Ham.
