Normally, the Dallas Cowboys save their spontaneous combustion for the playoffs. In the regular season, Mike McCarthy’s team has almost always been a world champion, winning at least 12 games in three consecutive years. When the stakes are lowest, you can almost always count on the Cowboys to show up. They are the definition of a league leader.

After a disappointing 28-25 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, where they were down 28-3 at one point, it appears the Cowboys, by their standards, are about to implode.

This is evident from Dak Prescott’s mentality after Sunday’s defeat.

As he walked through the tunnel after the game, Prescott was recorded saying, “Jump off if you want to.” It’s a clear suggestion to Cowboys fans who (rightly) don’t believe in the team after a rocky 1-2 start to get off the Dallas bandwagon. And it’s a little odd to hear it from Prescott, of all people, who probably should show a little more self-reflection as a newly appointed leader before directing his ire at nonbelievers in a team that’s shown that, most of the time, it’s fair not to show confidence.

I have two things to say to Prescott after this: Don’t worry, whoever else is on the Cowboys wagon will… Certainly jump off if Dallas voluntarily continues to step on rakes this early in the season. After all the playoff failures you have not given the people who still believe in you (?) any reason to believe.

And when you talk like that, it shows that your focus is in the wrong places. A real Dallas collapse could be imminent.
