Kim Kardashian visited the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego this past weekend to talk about prison reform for a group of inmates, including brothers and convicted murderers Lyle and Erik Menendez.

Kardashian was joined by actor Cooper Koch, who played Erik in Ryan Murphy’s recently released “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” a dramatic account of the brothers’ murder of their parents in 1989.

Kardashian, who previously starred in Murphy’s “American Horror Story: Delicate,” has been a vocal advocate for prison reform and rehabilitation, even visiting the White House in 2018 to discuss the topic with former President Donald Trump.

“Monsters” sparked outrage among many viewers after introducing an incestuous subplot. Ahead of Kardashian’s visit, Erik criticized the show in a statement shared by his wife Tammi Menendez on X/Twitter on Thursday. “It’s sad to know that Netflix’s dishonest portrayal of the tragedies surrounding our crimes has taken painful truths several steps back — back to an era when the prosecution built a narrative on the belief system that men weren’t sexually assaulted, and that men experienced rape trauma differently than women,” Erik’s statement read. “Those horrible lies have been disrupted and exposed over the past two decades by countless brave victims who have broken through their personal shame and bravely spoken out. So now Murphy is fleshing out his awful story through disgusting and appalling character portrayals of Lyle and me, and disheartening smears.”

“Isn’t the truth enough?” the post continued. “How demoralizing to know that one man with power can undermine decades of progress in shedding light on childhood trauma.”

During the brother’s trial in 1993, they alleged that their father had sexually and physically abused them. They were eventually convicted of shooting their parents to death.
