Clemson Tigers coach Dabo Swinney is known for his down-to-earth, folksy nature. Every now and then he tells a funny story or anecdote that people pick up on as a soundbite.

If there is such a thing as a compilation of “Dabo’s Greatest Hits”, his story about his last Saturday might just make the list.

While conducting his weekly press conference with reporters on Tuesday, Swinney got very excited when asked about his college football viewing habits now that the Tigers have the week off in Week 3.

Swinney’s response, which addressed the complexities of streaming games on his smartphone and other devices, provided a lighthearted moment.

“Man, I’ll tell you, I’m a big YouTube TV fan now,” Swinney enthused. “I finally figured out how to get that frickin’ app on my phone. It’s like an act of Congress. I mean, you have to have birth certificates and all kinds of stuff to get some of that stuff. I don’t know all those codes: ‘Who’s your carrier?’ There’s a lot of crazy stuff on there.

“I had my phone on,” Swinney continued, demonstrating with his hands for full effect. “I had my iPad on with four screens and I had the TV on. I imagine some of you guys were probably doing the same thing — because that’s what you do for a living, right? You guys need to know what the hell is going on. And we had a lot of teams playing that we were going to play, and that’s basically what I did all day. I just watched baseball all day and it was awesome. I saw some good stuff, I saw some bad stuff. I just enjoyed it.”

One of the teams Swinney saw was NC State, the Tigers’ opponent this Saturday. The Wolfpack defeated Louisiana Tech 30-20 to open ACC play 2-1 overall.

Kickoff for Clemson vs. NC State is scheduled for noon ET. The game will be broadcast on ABC — and also streamed.
