Shocking footage from a kitchen camera played at the murder trial of 15-year-old Carly Gregg on Tuesday showed the Mississippi teen hiding something behind her back and walking toward her bedroom just before the sounds of three gunshots and her mother’s screams were heard.

Video footage from the afternoon of March 19 showed that Gregg, then 14, was in the Brandon family home when Ashley Smylie, 40, her mother and a Rankin County math teacher, was fatally shot in the face. The suspect immediately went into the kitchen after the shooting and began using a phone while her two dogs hung around her.

At around the 45-second mark of the footage, Gregg, wearing a Nirvana T-shirt, was seen peering into the kitchen, as if checking to see if anyone was there, and she appeared to be holding an object behind her back, out of view of the camera. Moments later, the first shot was fired and Smylie let out two screams. Two more shots were fired.
