Sources – Chiefs’ Isiah Pacheco (fibula) expected to go on IR

Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco is expected to go on the injured list after sustaining a fibula injury during Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.

Pacheco underwent X-rays Sunday night and will have an MRI on Monday to determine if there is a fracture or damage to the ligaments in his ankle, sources told ESPN.

He left the game in the final minute and was seen in a running boot and crutches as he left the stadium. Chiefs coach Andy Reid gave no details after the game, other than to say he would undergo tests on Monday.

Pacheco, 25, rushed for 90 yards on 19 carries and caught five passes for 21 yards in the 26-25 victory. In two games this season, he has rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown while averaging 4.0 yards per carry.

The Chiefs list Samaje Perine as Pacheco’s backup on the depth chart, but he did not play Sunday. He was picked up by Kansas City after being released by the Denver Broncos in their final cuts.

Rookie Carson Steele had seven carries for 24 yards against the Bengals.
