Sleeper: Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints at Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys defense was a matchup for the Browns in Week 1. They held the offense back for most of the season opener and looked like a team that could lead Dallas to the Super Bowl, a team they’ve been chasing since the mid-1990s.

The New Orleans Saints, however, are not the Browns.

Derek Carr and company embarrassed a poor Carolina Panthers defense last Sunday, scoring 47 points en route to the biggest lopsided win of the week. Carr in particular impressed under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, going 19-23 for 200 yards and three touchdowns, including a 59-yarder to Rashid Shaheed.

He finished sixth among quarterbacks of the week with 21.3 points.

The Cowboys defense, for better or worse, is an aggressive team. They will get their sacks and collect interceptions, but there are also plenty of opportunities for opposing offenses to exploit that aggression for big plays and touchdowns.

If the Saints’ pass protection can hold up against Micah Parsons and Dallas’ pass rush, Carr could have a big day.

Managers who had Jordan Love as a starter should consider signing Carr off the waiver wire and letting him start Sunday. The veteran and former MVP candidate for the Raiders is available in 83 percent of Yahoo and 96 percent of ESPN leagues.
