    Steve McQueen’s son and Karate Kid star Chad McQueen dies at 63 as tributes pour in

    Chad McQueen has died at the age of 63, the family of The Karate Kid star has confirmed.

    The son of actor and race car driver Steve McQueen rose to fame for his role in the 1984 classic and also appeared in its sequel, The Karate Kid II.

    McQueen played Dutch in the original films and also appeared in other films, such as 1993’s New York Cop.

    The actor died Wednesday at his California ranch, according to his wife Jeanie and children Chase and Madison.

    He is said to have died of progressive organ failure. McQueen reportedly suffered an injury in 2020 and never fully recovered.

    His family said in a statement to Variety: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Chad McQueen.

    “His remarkable journey as a loving father to us, along with his unwavering devotion to our mother, were a true example of a life filled with love and dedication.

    “His passion for racing not only highlighted his exceptional talent, but also served as a way to honor his father’s legacy, a testament to the values ​​instilled in him.

    “He passed on his passion, knowledge and dedication to us and we will continue not only his legacy, but also that of our grandfather.

    “As a family we must work through this difficult time and we kindly ask for your privacy as we remember and celebrate his extraordinary life.”

    McQueen’s last acting role was as Manny Carlotti in the 2001 film The Fall.

    Outside of his career, he was an enthusiastic racing driver and took part in several races.

    Fans have taken to social media to remember and honor the actor, with one writing on X: “RIP Chad McQueen #KarateKid #KarateKidPartII #CobraKaiOG.”

    “RIP Chad McQueen of The Karate Kid and son of the legend Steve McQueen,” wrote another.
