Davis fire-resistant pipes hold up despite dry and windy weather

Despite adverse conditions, firefighters were able to contain the Davis Fire, which raged south of Reno on Wednesday.

The fire has burned an estimated 5,824 hectares and its containment has increased to 37%.

The U.S. Forest Service has issued an emergency closure in southwest Reno. All roads, trails and recreation areas are closed as firefighters continue to battle the blaze.

An attack team of 34 firefighters from Las Vegas left for Reno on Wednesday to assist with the work.

Some firefighters will support the task force charged with protecting buildings, while others will support local fire stations that are overwhelmed by the response.
