It seems that Carlos (Rafael Silva) will have to deal with a conflict at his (new) workplace in the last season of the series. 9-1-1: Lonely Star.

TV Insider has exclusively learned that incorporated star Parker Young has been cast in a recurring role opposite Silva. He will first appear in the premiere, airing Monday, September 23 at 8/7c on Fox. Young will play Ranger Sam Campbell, a no-nonsense, biting, see-it-all Texas Ranger who thinks Ranger rookie Carlos might not be up to the task at hand, especially a new case involving a series of armored truck robberies.

“Sam Campbell is one of our big new guest stars in Season 5. He’s a seasoned Texas Ranger who starts out as Carlos’ rival, but they quickly form a brilliant partnership that takes them to some very dark places,” executive producer and co-showrunner Rashad Raisani tells us. “Since the day we created the role, I always knew I wanted Parker for it. Not only is he an action hero, he’s also funny, warm, and super smart. He’s an absolute star and as you’ll see, he brings his A-game to this arc.”

The seed for Carlos’ move to the Rangers was planted at the end of Season 4, in May 2023. His father was murdered just before his wedding to TK (Ronen Rubinstein), and his killer has still not been found.

“I think Carlos hasn’t been the same since his father was murdered and he’ll do whatever it takes to get an answer, an answer, any answer, and he’ll take whatever path he needs to take to (do that),” Silva told us after the Season 4 finale. “He’s not going to stop until he gets an answer.”

Now, in the fifth and final season, Carlos’ obsession with solving his father’s murder will test TK’s marriage. Ouch!
