‘The Substance’ Star Demi Moore Reveals ‘Eccentric’ Nighttime Ritual

Demi Moore has a great sense of self-awareness.

The 61-year-old actress, who is regaining popularity thanks to rave reviews for her upcoming film “The Substance,” has a lot to look forward to in life, but admittedly no romantic partner to share it with.

Moore has been married and divorced three times, but in a new interview she laughs about why she’s still single.

During her appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” Moore talked about a variety of topics, including her admiration for her 1.5-pound dog Pilaf, who has accompanied the star to fashion shows, film festivals and late-night appearances in recent years.

“She’s a magical creature,” Moore raved. “I was told she was here to teach me a new way to walk, and I think it’s working.”

But Fallon reminded Moore that she’s the proud mother of a diverse group of dogs, playing an Instagram video of the actress’s nine dogs waiting for her to come home. Another photo she posted to Instagram shows seven smaller dogs squeezing into a tiny dog bed, with a larger dog on top.

“If someone saw my nighttime routine – if it was filmed – they would really see how eccentric I really am,” said Moore, who confirmed that she does sleep with her animals.

“I have to put pillows down so that the pillows of this size can go under the covers. I have two beds for the little ones, so they have the beds in the bed,” she explained.

“You take care of them!” Fallon said.

“Of course! That’s why I’m single,” Moore replied, prompting a huge laugh from both Fallon and the audience.

Despite her single status, Moore told Fallon that she has a new “love of her life” in her granddaughter Louetta.

“It’s a little surreal. But it’s incredible. She’s the sweetest little thing,” Moore said of eldest daughter Rumer Willis’ first child.

Moore said she doesn’t call herself “Grandma,” but “YaYa” — a strategic choice.

“I positioned it perfectly because I knew that with her verbal skills, I would be high on the list. And I am,” she revealed. “YaYa came out pretty early.”

Moore’s film, “The Substance,” is released on September 18.
