New York Jets at San Francisco 49ers Game Inactives

The defensive stars — “The Captain” MLB CJ Mosley, All-Pro LB Quincy Williams, Pro Bowlers from all three levels in Quinnen Williams, Jermaine Johnson and Sauce Gardner — are joined by big and fast DL Javon Kinlaw, returning edge men Micheal Clemons and Will McDonald, CB DJ Reed, S Tony Adams and S Chuck Clark, who are back after a season of injury rehab.

Not all players on the roster will be active, however. The Jets have seven inactive players on the roster for tonight’s first game of this promising season:

  • RB Izzy Abanikanda
  • CB Jarrick Bernard-Converse
  • DL Eric Watts
  • TMax Mitchell
  • T Carter Warren
  • TE Brenden Bates
  • DL Leonard Taylor

With reserve tackles Warren and Mitchell both sidelined, the only backup to Smith and Moses as tackler is Jets rookie Olu Fashanu.

Two injured reserve candidates, OL Wes Schweitzer and LB Zaire Barnes, would have been inactive options if not for the Jets placing both of them on the short-term injured list in the last three days.

Other Jets who suddenly become active for this game after the team made a number of trades include OL Jake Hanson and LB Samuel Eguavoen, who were signed to the active roster today, and TE Anthony Firkser and DL Jalyn Holmes, who were both activated from the practice squad for this game.

And here are the 49ers’ seven inactive players, including McCaffrey and starting S Talanoa Hufanga (knee, questionable):

  • QB Joshua Dobbs
  • RB Christian McCaffrey
  • CB Darrell Luter Jr.
  • S Talanoa Hufanga
  • LB Dee Winters
  • OL Ben Bartch
  • THE Yetur Gross-Matos
