EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – The ‘Pack is back, but not in the way people want.

What you might find the best way to watch football is to enjoy some food and drinks in a local bar, but that is not an option everywhere.

Owen Strong, a waiter at Wisco’s Bar & Eatery Eau Claire, had his say on this year’s streaming choices.

“I’ll be serving and telling people we’re not having the Packers game. That’s my main role. People who want to come here and watch the game have to say, ‘No, we’re not having it.’ That’s what all the restaurants tell them,” Strong said.

The first NFL game will only be available to watch if viewers pay for Peacock’s streaming service.

“I think if you’re in Wisconsin, you have to play the Packer game no matter what,” Strong said.

That makes some fans quite angry.

“It seems pretty unfair. It seems like the NFL doesn’t care that much about their fans and they’re just looking for partnerships and just want to charge us more money,” he said.

Many companies are asked why they don’t just pay for streaming, but it’s not that simple.

“On the legal side, I know that for a lot of these streaming services and different pay-per-view events, you have to pay a ridiculous amount of money. Even previous financials, it’s like we’re putting this potential burden on ourselves to get a game,” Strong said.
