“In 67 days, we’re going to win Pennsylvania,” the former president declared.

Harris stopped in Pittsburgh on Monday to join President Biden at a Labor Day event in the state’s second-largest city and union stronghold. The vice president returns to Pittsburgh on Thursday for her second stop this week.

Fox confirmed that Harris will return to Pittsburgh to prepare for next week’s first and potentially only game. presidential debate with Trump. Harris is expected to remain in the state through next Tuesday’s prime-time debate in Philadelphia.

Pennsylvania is one of seven swing states that decided the 2020 election between Trump and Biden. Both campaigns see Pennsylvania as the states that will determine the outcome of the 2024 presidential election.

“It’s the one state where it’s hard to see someone lose the presidential race and still win,” Mark Harris, a Republican national strategist and ad maker based in Pittsburgh, told Fox News. “It’s clearly ground zero.”

Mark Harris, a veteran of multiple GOP presidential campaigns, said: “You see it in the media reservations and in the travel schedules of the candidates. It’s clear that the Trump campaign and the Harris camp believe this is a must-win situation.”

Mike Butler, a Democratic consultant from Pittsburgh, told Fox News that when it comes to the race for the White House, “I don’t think there’s another state that has as much influence as Pennsylvania.”

The campaigns and deep-pocketed super PACs backing Harris and Trump have already spent more than $336 million to run ads in Pennsylvania, according to data from nationally known ad-tracking firm AdImpact. That includes nearly $150 million to reserve airtime to run spots in the last two months — a figure that is likely to rise in the coming weeks.

It’s not just the top candidates campaigning in Pennsylvania. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, is campaigning in Lancaster, Pittsburgh and Erie on Wednesday and Thursday. Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, Trump’s running mate, has campaigned in Pennsylvania nearly every week since becoming the GOP vice presidential nominee in mid-July.

Pennsylvania, along with Michigan and Wisconsin, is the three Rust Belt states that make up the Democrats’ so-called “Blue Wall.”

The party won all three states for 25 years until Trump narrowly won them in the 2016 election to capture the White House.

Four years later, in 2020, Biden won all three states by a razor-thin margin, returning to the Democratic camp after defeating Trump.

Looking ahead, Pennsylvania remains a tough issue, with the latest polls in the state pointing to a close race between Harris and Trump.

“It’s going to be a fight to the end. I think Trump has some advantages,” Mark Harris said. “But it’s definitely going to be a close race.”

Butler noted that Pennsylvania had a razor-thin margin in the past two presidential elections. “Trump’s numbers are pretty solidly baked in. I can’t imagine him doing worse than the last two times, which means it’s going to be a very competitive state,” he said.
