‘Yellowstone’ Season 5 Trailer Shows Chaos in the Dutton Dynasty

To steal a line from the Game of Thrones spinoff…the new teaser trailer for Yellowstone In the final episodes of Season 5, the hard truth becomes clear: the only thing that can bring down House Dutton is itself.

The first images from the highly anticipated Season 5, Part 2 slate of episodes arrived Friday morning in the form of a 30-second preview. It opens with Kevin Costner’s John Dutton, who we know won’t be participating in these upcoming episodes. However, his character does appear to be involved some capacity.

“Legacy,” he says. “If you build something worthwhile, someone will try to steal it.”

The sneak peek then turns to his children. Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) menacingly tells his wife, Monica (Kelsey Asbille), “What I’m doing is not for the ranch, it’s for us.” We then see him trying to appear incognito in his black Carhartt hoodie with his hand around a gun hidden inside.

The fate of the ranch still seems to be in jeopardy. Lloyd Pierce (Forrie J. Smith), one of the older Dutton cowboys, seems to be preparing for the worst. “I’ve spent all my life here,” he tells Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), who replies, “So have I.”

And of course, siblings Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) are fighting, but even that seems to be escalating. “If you destroy me, you destroy yourself,” he warns someone on the phone amid footage of an FBI office raid and Beth beating the s— out of him. “Unlike you, I keep my promises,” she warns back.

Yellowstone kicks off the remaining episodes of Season 5 on Sunday, November 10 on the Paramount Network, which will be a pivotal moment for fans of the series for a number of reasons.

Costner, who has been a fixture Yellowstone Since the beginning, it was confirmed in June that he would not be involved in Season 5B, leading many to believe that his character would be killed off somehow amid the ongoing Dutton dynasty war in the story.

“I just wanted to let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that go into it, and thinking about Yellowstone“That beloved show that I love, that I know you love, I just realized that I can’t continue Season 5B or the future,” Costner said in a video statement posted to social media at the time. “It was something that really changed me. I loved it and I know you loved it. And I just wanted to let you know that I’m not coming back. I love the relationship that we’ve been able to develop, and I’ll see you in theaters.”
