Step aside, Detective PikachuThere’s an even weirder live-action video game movie coming. And by that I mean Warner Bros. just released the first teaser trailer for A Minecraft MovieThe film features real people and a slightly realistic CG version of MinecraftBut when you combine the game’s iconic blocky style with real life, you get this:

Apart from the disturbing images, A Minecraft Movie looks like a silly family party, with lots of one-liners, big fights, and Jack Black proudly proclaiming, “I’m Steve!” And of course, there’s both mining and crafting. In addition to Black, the film also stars Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, and Jennifer Coolidge. The film is directed by Jared Hess of Napoleon Dynamite fame and will be released in North American cinemas from April 4.
