Popular YouTuber dies at 58 after apologizing to fans in heartbreaking clip

Popular YouTuber Paul Harrell has died at the age of 58 from pancreatic cancer. He announced his death in a heartbreaking clip he posted “beyond the grave.”

“If you look at me, I’m dead,” the Oregon-based content creator told his 1.14 million subscribers in a video titled “I’m Dead.”

The six-minute clip was filmed in December 2023 and his family released it after his death on Tuesday.

Gun rights activist Harrell made the tragic announcement while sitting on a log in the woods, the same spot where he first told his subscribers he had been diagnosed with stage 2 pancreatic cancer.

He previously assured his fans that his cancer was “detected early” and that he would “stay with us for a while.”

But in his posthumous video, Harrell described how his health was deteriorating.

“We did find out early, but not as early as I thought,” he told fans. “It’s spread faster than I thought. I’m running out of time.”

Harrell walked on crutches after breaking his hip. He admitted the injury was caused by cancer, which had spread to his bones and caused them to “crumble.”

The YouTuber subsequently offered his “sincere apologies” to fans who were shocked by his sudden death.

“I had hoped that I could continue working in this format for the next 10 or even 15 years,” he said.

‘Once I was diagnosed, I was hoping we would be here for at least another two or three years, but it turned out to be only a few months.

“I apologize for that. It makes me feel like I’ve let everyone down.”

Fans flooded the comments with praise and thanks for the firearms expert.

“Even beyond the grave the humor is dark but fitting,” one fan wrote. “We’ll miss you Paul.”

“This is the worst news I have ever received,” another heartbroken supporter wrote. “RIP Paul.”

“Paul Harrell is the only man humble enough to apologize for his death. The world wouldn’t be the same without him,” one person wrote.

Another said Harrell’s “final lesson” to them was “a master class in dying with grace and dignity.”

Harrell said his brother and the rest of the production team would continue to make videos in his honor.

The clip ended with a message from his editor and manager, Brad Nelson.

“I had the great privilege of having Paul in my life and having him as a friend,” Nelson told viewers.

‘He is a very generous and kind person and he told the most beautiful stories around the campfire.’

Harrell used his channel to advocate for gun owners’ rights and share knowledge about gun safety and accurate shooting.
