ABOUT MOUNTAIN AMERICA STADIUM
Located on the campus of Arizona State University, Mountain America Stadium has been the home of the ASU Sun Devils for over 60 years. Built between two small mountains, the stadium was completed in time for the start of the 1958 season. Named Sun Devil Stadium after the team, it had a seating capacity of 30,000 when it opened on October 4, 1958. Since its opening, Mountain America Stadium has undergone many upgrades. Starting in 1976, the capacity was increased to over 57,000. The following year, the capacity was increased to over 70,000 when the upper deck was completed. In 1987, the NFL’s St. Louis Cardinals relocated to Arizona and Mountain America Stadium, continuing to play their home games there until moving to State Farm Stadium (then known as University of Phoenix Stadium) in 2006. A three-phase project was completed in 2018, and the current capacity is 53,599. The stadium will now be called Mountain America Stadium after Mountain America Credit Union became the naming rights partner in 2023.
