The hosts then confirmed their national status by scoring in their next three matches.

The Bears handed Millard South a 39-25 defeat on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

Millard South led once, 7-6 on a short run by Gabe Prucha midway through the second quarter. The Patriots then gave up the next two scores to trail 19-7 at halftime.

They closed the gap with a short touchdown pass from Jett Thomalla to tight end Isaac Jensen and a 23-yard field goal by Trenton Van Surksum, the latter with 2:27 left in the third quarter.

Basha scored, and after forcing a punt, he scored again on a 70-yard breakaway for a 39-17 lead. Prucha’s 5-yard touchdown, followed by a Patriot 2-point conversion, ended the scoring.

Chase Loftin had 13 catches for 128 yards. Millard South had 407 yards to the Bears’ 494.

Millard South has a short week after returning to Omaha on Saturday. They will face Millard West, which lost its opener 29-21 to Millard North, on Thursday.

Omaha Bryan 26, Lincoln High 7: Isaiah Morgan rushed for 168 yards and a score, while Jasiah Summerfield accounted for three touchdowns on 114 yards passing and 96 rushing.

Lincoln North Star 7, Lincoln Southwest 6: The go-ahead touchdown for the Gators with 5:50 left came on a double pass, with Michael Hunter Jr. taking a screen pass and throwing it to Sam Schaefer.

Plattsmouth 57, Omaha Buena Vista 0: Plattsmouth scored 31 points in the second quarter after Levi Walker scored twice in the first quarter.

Omaha Concordia 26, Omaha Brownell Talbot 6: Concordia matched last year’s win total by defeating the Raiders, who were in Eight Man-1 last year.

No. 1 Norfolk Catholic 28, No. 2 Wahoo Neumann 21: A 14-yard halfback pass from Nathan Timmerman to Hayden Kelley with 2:34 left gave the Knights a two-touchdown lead after Timmerman caught a touchdown pass from Callen Marshall in the third quarter.

No. 6 Oakland-Craig 34, No. 8 Yutan 14: Braylon Anderson completed 17 of 24 passes for 448 yards and three touchdowns, while Corbin Guill caught seven passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns.
