Cold front brings thunderstorms and cooler temperatures on Thursday

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Cooler temperatures are expected in central and western Nebraska on Thursday, but parts of eastern Nebraska will remain warm. A cold front will move across Nebraska during the day, bringing showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. A few of the storms could be severe. The showers and thunderstorms should end after midnight, with clouds lingering through Friday morning. Mostly sunny weather should develop Friday afternoon with cooler temperatures and less humidity. The holiday weekend will be warm on Saturday and then not as warm on Sunday and Monday. Mostly dry weather is expected throughout the holiday.

A marginal chance of severe weather for central and eastern Nebraska on Thursday. Isolated severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds are possible this afternoon and tonight.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue Thursday night into early Friday morning in southeastern Nebraska. Partly to mostly cloudy skies with overnight lows in the 50s and 60s.

Morning clouds in eastern Nebraska will give way to mostly sunny skies Friday afternoon, with temperatures becoming cooler and less humid. Highs will mostly be in the 80s.
