BEVERLY, Ohio (WTAP) – The classroom is where a student learns essential everyday skills.

Schools like Fort Frye Local Schools take attendance seriously. Attendance is measured on an hourly basis and is added up to ensure a student was in school all day.

Under Ohio law, if a student misses 38 or more hours per month or 65 or more hours per school year, the school will appoint an absence intervention team. They will then create a plan to help the student avoid future absences.

Andy Schob, principal of Frye High School, said it’s important to go to school every day.
