CHICAGO — Anti-Israel protesters took to the streets of Chicago for a fourth night on Thursday, the final night of the Democratic National Convention, where Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris was scheduled to deliver a historic speech addressing supporters.

The protesters gathered around 5 p.m. before leaving, led by Chicago Police Chief Larry Snelling and officers.

Thursday’s march, which passed through Park 578, was farther from the United Center, the stadium hosting the DNC, than previous marches. A large group of riot police positioned themselves between the protesters and the DNC.

During Thursday’s march, minor skirmishes broke out, including one involving a counter-protester with an American flag. Some anti-Israel parties also challenged police with a megaphone, saying: “You are the ones with guns!”

Another attendee, wearing a “BLM” shirt, waved a large black shirt as he challenged police, saying, “You guys are scared.”

Waving signs and Palestinian flags, the protesters chanted into megaphones: “There is one solution: the intifada revolution” and “long live antifada.”

Towards sunset, some participants began to split from the main group and leave the demonstration.

Later in the evening, protesters burned an American flag.
