Odds Studio is built on chance encounters, a love of food and a keen eye for artistic direction

In 2017, Odds Studio founders Djelissa Latini and Amélie Warnault shared an Uber pool headed the same way on Sunset Boulevard in LA. An unlikely way to meet your eventual studio co-founder, the two designers hit it off immediately and later reconnected when Djelissa moved to Paris. After five years of freelancing and working separately at agencies in the city, the pair embarked on a new mission and launched their own creative studio: Odds. “Funnily enough, Amélie had interned at one of the studios I was working at a few years before I started there, so our paths had already crossed multiple times before we actually met in that cab—hence our name,” says Djelissa, “what are the odds?”.

The creative duo now work together in their “cozy, sunny office space” in Paris, where they co-create thoughtful visual solutions across branding, packaging, art direction, web design and photography. They have a particular appreciation for projects that allow for a more “tinkering” and lateral approach — “where there’s room to play and experiment, to create bespoke moments,” says Amélie, who often works with analogue techniques to create distinctly individual brands.

Both foodies with a “passion for the hospitality industry and food in general,” Amélie and Djelissa often work on identity systems for restaurants, bakeries and independent food brands. Collaborations like these play into the pair’s passion for collecting packaging and retro print memorabilia. Djelissa says, “We both have a love of looking at printed ephemera from the past” — an influence evident in the gorgeously vintage feel of Odd’s portfolio. Food-related projects also extend the childlike joy of “designing food menus at home for my mother and making labels for my nonna’s homemade jam,” she says. This love of printed ephemera combined with Amélie’s keen eye for art direction lends itself to some seriously tasty brand identities.
