2024 Los Alamos County Fair & Rodeo – Roping The Dream

Join Los Alamos County and other partner organizations August 2-4 for exhibits, the Friday Night Summer Concert, parade, a fair in Ashley Pond Park, the Rodeo at Brewer Arena and much more!

The County Fair exhibits, organized by the NMSU Co-operative Extension office, are underway the weekend from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 2 at the Mesa Public Library. Plan ahead to go to Ashley Pond Park for the Los Alamos Summer Concert Series, with Sim Balkey! The Summer Concert series starts at 6pm with supporting acts and runs until 9pm.

On Saturday morning, August 3, there will be plenty of activity from 9:00 am with the funfair in Ashley Pond. Don’t forget to claim your spot on Central Ave. for the Parade, hosted by Los Alamos County, which starts at 10 a.m

This year’s Grand Marshal is Steve Lynne, who only retired in July after for Los Alamos County for the past 28 years. He moved to New Mexico in 1994 and then to Los Alamos in 1996.

Lynne and his wife Suzanne raised their children here in Los Alamos. As a resident and as a member of the public As a servant, he believed it was his duty to improve the quality of life in Los Alamos.

“I knew that Los Alamos was different, but it didn’t take long for me to realize how lucky I was was to live and work here,” Lynne said. “And now that I’m at the end of my career at the County, I can look back and say that all these years I have seized the dream. “Alamos is awesome!”

The Northern New Mexico Royalty Court competition was held in June of this year and judged by Courtney Gurule and former New Mexico State Fair Queen Tonantzin Candelaria.

This year’s Royal Court consists of Queen Belita Martinez, Princess Jewel Jaramillo, Sweetheart Lilyanne Montoya and Jr. Sweetheart Ashleigh Enriquez.

To complete your Saturday, fill the afternoon with the Rodeo starting at 2pm at Brewer Arena on North Mesa and close out the evening with the Cowboy Dinner and Dance starting at 5 p.m. at the Los Alamos Sheriff’s Posse Lodge, also on North Mesa.

The Rodeo Weekend continues from 9am on Sunday, August 4th with Stroll the Stables, on the North Mesa Stables. And the Rodeo continues at 1:00 p.m. Are you brave enough to wear pink? Well, the cowboys entering the Rodeo on Sunday will be wearing pink, so don’t forget to wear pink for a day to show your support!
