YouTube Premium subscribers report price hikes worldwide

YouTube is telling Premium subscribers outside the US that they will soon be paying more for the service, social media users reported over the weekend. So far, the higher prices have been reported in regions including the EU, the Middle East and South America, according to Android Authority.

The price hikes affect both individual and family plans. In some EU countries, people have said they’ve been told their family plans will go from €17.99 to €25.99 from November 7 (or €11.99 to €13.99 for individuals). Social media posts have reported similar hikes in places like Singapore, Colombia and Saudi Arabia. One Reddit user keeps track of the amounts in one thread.

Another Reddit user posted screenshots of a Premium Lite subscription option, accompanied by a beta tag. YouTube had begun testing a version of Premium with fewer features than the standard subscription in 2021, but told customers last year that it was discontinuing it. (We’ve reached out to the company for more information about this version of Premium Lite and will update this if we hear back.)
