MONTREAL (AP) — A quick look at Thursday’s opening session of Presidents Cup fourballs at Royal Montreal (all times EDT):

THE SCORE: United States 5, International 0.

THE SWEEP: It was the first time since 2000 that the Americans won the opening session. The last time there was a shutout was at Royal Montreal in 2007, when the Americans lost 5-0 in foursomes on Saturday.

TRENDING: The Americans have taken the lead after 38 of the last 42 sessions in the Presidents Cup. They were in the lead eight of the last nine times after opening day.

MATCH OF THE DAY: Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala led just eight of 18 holes against Adam Scott and Min Woo Lee and neither side led by more than one hole in the Americans’ 1-up win.

SHOT OF THE DAY: Theegala made his approach to within a yard and secured the win by 1.

WED, CANADA: Canada’s Taylor Pendrith and Corey Conners, who each went 0-4 in their 2022 Presidents Cup debuts, each lost matches in the opening session.

NOTEWORTHY: Adam Scott played with his 17th partner in the Presidents Cup. He will get his 18th partner on Friday.
