Preview of the Presidents Cup

The Presidents Cup is an event in which a team of golfers from the United States competes against an international team from around the world, excluding Europe. The US competes against golfers from Europe in another biennial competition, the Ryder Cup.

The Presidents Cup first began in 1994 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Prince William County, Virginia. The location of the competition alternates between American and foreign locations.

The Presidents Cup is unique in that there is no money or prize money and players are not paid for their participation. Instead, each golfer allocates a portion of the revenue generated to the charities of their choice. More than 475 charities in 18 different countries have benefited from the Presidents Cup, generating more than $56.4 million.

When does the Presidents Cup start?

The 2024 Presidents Cup starts on Thursday, September 26 with the opening ceremony and first round matches (four-ball). Barring weather disruptions, the event will conclude on Sunday, September 29 with final round matches (singles).

Where will the Presidents Cup be played this year?

The Presidents Cup takes place in Canada at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Île Bizard, Quebec, about 20 miles west of downtown Montreal.
