They sold out within minutes. Now, scalpers are trying to sell the retro-themed bundles on eBay for thousands of dollars.

On September 10, after months and months of rumors, Sony officially unveiled the PS5 Pro. The $700 console offers developers more power and, in theory, lets players play more games at higher frame rates without sacrificing resolution or additional details. The internet was abuzz with drama and discussion about the console almost immediately after its announcement. And then Sony announced a special PS1-inspired version of the PS5 Pro , and suddenly a lot of people were on board with the idea of ​​shelling out big bucks for a new Sony console again. However, if you didn’t pre-order by Thursday morning, you’ll have to shell out thousands of dollars on eBay to get your gray PS5 Pro.

The September 26 pre-order process for the new PS5 Pro and the $1,000 PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary bundle was a nightmare. People had trouble buying anything on the PlayStation store, and those who were lucky are now promptly trying to sell the anniversary bundles on eBay.

When I checked the auction site, I saw nearly 100 different listings for 30th Anniversary PS5 Pro and PS5 Slims on eBay. The Pro Bundles, which include two PS1 gray controllers, a carrying case, and a kickstand, are priced between $2,000 and over $5,000. Anniversary PS5 Slims, which are also sold out on Sony’s site and cost $500, are also being sold on eBay, with some scalpers asking for $1,500.

Oddly enough, I’ve also seen people on eBay trying to sell regular PS5 Pros. Some are asking $1,000+ for the mid-gen refresh, which is odd considering I just checked on Sony’s PlayStation Store and was still able to pre-order a $700 PS5 Pro with little to no effort. If you want a Pro console, please don’t buy it on eBay for $1,000+.

In any case, don’t buy any of these overpriced scalper ads unless you want to encourage people to keep buying new, in-demand items and sell them to you for three times the price.
