Djokovic to miss Canadian Open

Legendary Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the Canadian Open. The 37-year-old is often considered the best player in the history of men’s tennis in the Open era, having won 24 Grand Slam titles.
According to the latest report, which was officially confirmed by the ATP in a release on their official account on their website, the former world number one has decided not to participate in the Canadian Open. The ATP 1000 event will be played from August 6 to 12 in Montreal, where some of the best players from around the world will participate to showcase their talent and win the ultimate prize.

It is unclear why Djokovic made that decision, as he is currently playing at the Olympic Games in Paris, but the event ends on August 4. The Belgrade-born player has already secured his place in the third round of the singles in Paris after beating former world number one, Spaniard Rafael Nadal, in straight sets by a score of 6-1, 6-4 on Monday.

Djokovic has an impressive record at the Canadian Open, having won the title four times in his illustrious career. His first victory in the competition came in 2007 when he defeated former world number one Roger Federer in the final with a score of 7-6, 2-6, 7-6. Four years later, in 2011, the 24-time Grand Slam winner won the title again in Montreal after defeating American Mardy Fish with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

A year later, in 2012, Djokovic won the Canadian Open title again after beating Frenchman Richard Gasquet in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-2. His last title in Montreal came in 2016 when he defeated Japanese Kei Nishikori in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 7-5. Last year, it was Italian Jannik Sinner who won the title after beating Australian Alex de Minaur in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-1.

I’m glad our epic rivalry is still a blockbuster, @Rafael Nadal. Good luck in doubles. Idemooo Srbija! 🇷🇸 Слава Богу 🙏🏼🙏🏼
