Live updates with bad blood in NLDS Game 3

The National League Division Series heads south to San Diego after the Padres and Dodgers split the first two games in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers won Game 1 on Saturday, but the Padres bounced back with an impressive victory on Sunday, which included some ugly scenes of fans throwing stuff on the field in Los Angeles.

“If I were the commissioner of baseball, I wouldn’t even allow a Game 5 at their house,” Padres reliever Jeremiah Estrada told reporters Monday, describing the beer cans, bottles and baseballs thrown on the field and into the bullpen . I mean, why? Why would you want to test that this happens again?”

Walker Buehler will get the start for the Dodgers in Game 3 on Tuesday night, while Michael King will take the mound for the Padres. King pitched seven scoreless innings with 12 strikeouts in the first game of San Diego’s wild-card series sweep against Atlanta.

Wow. After a train wreck of a second inning put the Dodgers in a 6-1 hole, Los Angeles came right back with Teoscar Hernández’s grand slam to center field off Padres starter Michael King, making it a 6-5 game.

Expect the pendulum to swing a few more times in this game.

Who else? Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a two-run homer to left field in the bottom of the second inning, capping a nightmare inning for the Dodgers and starter Walker Buehler.

It is Tatis Jr.’s fourth homer in five games this postseason.

Walker Buehler’s second inning turned into a disaster after a leadoff single, with two fielder choices and an error by Freddie Freeman allowing the Padres to tie the game. With runners on first and third base, David Peralta hit a two-RBI double past Freeman down the right field line to make it 3-1.

Another single moved Peralta to third, setting up Kyle Higashioka’s sacrifice fly and the Padres’ fourth run, fortunately the first of the inning.

Mookie Betts got the party started in Game 3 with a solo home run off Padres starter Michael King in the top of the first inning – just past the glove of Padres left fielder Jurickson Profar.

Betts was mired in a postseason slump, hitting .068 (3 for 44) in his past 12 playoff games dating back to the 2021 NLCS.

It was almost a copy of a much-discussed play from Game 2, but Profar jumped into the stands to rob Betts of a home run and took time to celebrate in front of the fans.

What time is Dodgers vs. Padres?

The first pitch at Petco Park is scheduled for Tuesday at 9:08 PM ET.
