    Saints QB hurts in game against Chiefs

    Derek Carr hasn’t had much luck against the Kansas City Chiefs in his career. You can also add injury luck to that list.

    The New Orleans Saints quarterback limped to his feet after a hit by Chiefs DB Chamarri Conner in the fourth quarter of the Week 5 “Monday Night Football” game between the two teams.

    Carr and the Saints trailed 23-13 at the time of the goal. It seemed that after the blow he grabbed his back and went to the medical tent.

    Here’s the latest on the Saints QB:

    Carr left the “Monday Night Football” game during the fourth quarter after taking a hard hit from Conner.

    After the game, Saints head coach Dennis Allen said Carr’s injury was a “left-sided injury.” He had no further details about Carr’s injury, only that trainers told him the quarterback injured his side.

    “We’re getting an MRI tomorrow and all that stuff, so we’ll figure it out,” Carr said after the game.

    Carr would enter the blue medical tent after the goal and head to the locker room shortly after. He was listed as “questionable” with an oblique injury, according to the ESPN broadcast.

    The quarterback would no longer be on the field on the Saints’ next offensive possession, and he would not finish the play.

    If you’re looking for experience on the Saints bench behind Derek Carr, you won’t get it. Jake Haener is listed as QB2, while Spencer Rattler is the third emergency QB behind both Carr and Haener.

    The Saints selected Haener in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL draft. Coincidentally, Haener attended Fresno State, the same school as Carr.
