Daniel Jones made New York Giants history with the win over the Seahawks

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones completed 23 of his 34 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns in a 29-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Jones was accurate and efficient and raised the level of play around him in the absence of rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Devin Singletary. In fact, since Week 2, Jones has been one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the NFL.

But one of the biggest insights from Week 5 is what Jones did on the spot. On a surgically repaired knee, he rushed for an extra 38 yards — a staple of what he always did.

For the first time, Jones seemed truly comfortable moving around defenders. It’s that extra element that was missing – or at least missing – for the first four weeks of the season.

Perhaps somewhat ironically, Jones’ consolation also translated into Giants all-time history when he became their first quarterback to eclipse 2,000 career rushing yards.

Giants legend Phil Simms is the next quarterback on the list after Jones with 1,252 rushing yards.

Now with 2,022 career rushing yards, Jones is 21st on the Giants’ all-time rushing list, with Bill Paschal (2,057), Ron Dayne (2,067) and Rashad Jennings (2,095) within striking distance in the coming weeks.
