Rookie Brock Bowers gets the Raiders on board with an improbable 57-yard catch and run

DENVER – Technically, Brock Bowers is a rookie tight end. Realistically, and to the delight of the Las Vegas Raiders, the No. 13 overall draft pick is a versatile player.

Bowers went up and over Denver Broncos safety P.J. Locke on a jump ball up the middle of the field from quarterback Gardner Minshew, reeled in the ball and ran down the left sideline for a 57-yard catch-and-run touchdown for the first goal out his career.

It was the Raiders’ longest play this season. It was also the longest reception by a Raiders TE since Darren Waller in Week 17 of 2019 (75 yards, also in Denver).

It was the fourth play of the scrimmage for the Raiders, playing without starters at receiver (Davante Adams, who is rehabbing a hamstring injury awaiting a trade) and running back (Zamir White, who injured his groin during practice this week injured).

It was also Minshew’s fourth touchdown pass in six games, giving the Raiders a 7-0 lead with 12:57 to play in the first quarter.
