Game updates, week 6 live score

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In a crowd dressed heavily in crimson, white and gray, Alabama football was silenced by Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon.

A week after a dramatic win against Georgia, the No. 2 Crimson Tide fell victim to the rat trap game, with Vanderbilt losing 40-35 and pandemonium ensuing at FirstBank Stadium for Alabama’s first loss of the Kalen DeBoer era .

Alabama’s loss to Vanderbilt was the team’s first outright loss since 1984. Three previous Alabama wins against the Commodores were lost or forfeited.

Diego Pavia and the Vanderbilt offense secured the victory with five minutes remaining, scoring his second touchdown pass of the day to Kamrean Johnson to give the Commodores a 12-point lead.

Jalen Milroe and the Alabama offense, which had 396 yards of offense — the same as the Commodores offense — scored a touchdown with 2:46 left on a 2-yard end around freshman Ryan Williams. But a Vanderbilt first down secured the upset win against the Crimson Tide.

The Vanderbilt offense had a significant possession advantage and held the football for over 40 minutes of playing time.

Next, Alabama will host South Carolina on Oct. 12 at 11 a.m

6:15, Q3: The Vanderbilt offense continued to pressure the Alabama defense, with two third downs and nearly six minutes off the clock. But the Crimson Tide forced a punt after multiple tackles for loss by Que Robinson.

An illegal numbers penalty, a facemask call against Jihaad Campbell and a passer penalty by Que Robinson extended a scoring drive that initially ended in a 40-yard punt. Vanderbilt leads 20-7

Alabama trails Vanderbilt after the first quarter. Sedrick Alexander has a rushing touchdown for the Commodores, while the defense scored on a Jalen Milroe interception. Jam Miller has Alabama’s only score.

After Alabama seemingly forced a 40-yard punt from Jesse Mirco, Vanderbilt got the ball back at the Crimson Tide 47 on an illegal number call. Both Zabien Brown and Ryan Williams, wearing No. 2, were on the field during the kick.

Alabama is now on the board thanks to running back Jam Miller. Miller finished a 7-play, 75-yard drive with an 8-yard touchdown run to the left side behind tackle Kadyn Proctor and Tyler Booker.

Alabama wins the coin toss. Moved to the second half. Vanderbilt will start with the ball.

No. 2 Alabama 45, Vanderbilt 10: Instead of the rat trap play that Alabama’s coaching staff had prepared its players for, Jalen Milroe, Ryan WIlliams and the rest of the Crimson Tide should pick up where they left off in the final moments of the victory in Georgia.
