LSZEE is an electronic music project that combines two powerful space bass artists into one. The duo released their first joint album, LSZEE this September. The Funk Hunters, K+Lab and Common Creation will support the first or second night at Red Rocks.

Guest conductor Douglas Boyd and soloist Anne Akiko Meyers on violin will join the Colorado Symphony on Sunday for Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. The repertoire includes Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet Overture – Fantasy, Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64, and Sibelius Symphony No. 3 in C major, Op. 52.

Studio Ghibli Cookie Decorating Course

Ceviche Making Class

Starting this week, Poka Lola Social Club will transform the atmosphere into a Halloween party with decor to match the launch of more than 16 themed cocktails, mocktails and shots. Composing Color: Paintings by Alma Thomas from the Smithsonian American Art Museum

Composing Color: Paintings by Alma Thomas from the Smithsonian American Art Museum will be on display on Level 1 of the Hamilton Building through January 12, 2025. There are daily guided tours from 1:30 PM – 2:15 PM. Organized around Thomas’ favorite themes of space, earth and music, the exhibition showcases Thomas’s abstract style “where color is symbolic and multisensory and sound, movement, temperature and even smell.”

“Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy, Really” by Kate Hamill

When: October 3, 7:30 PM (performances run until November 3)
Where: Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, CO

The low point:

This play by Kate Hamill is based on the novel by Bram Stoker and directed by Carolyn Howarth. It is said that this story turns the tropes of fainting ladies and evil villains on their heads, and “drives a cheerful stake through the heart of patriarchy itself.”

“Who Are You? An Alice in Wonderland Art Exhibition”

Where: The Gallery at AlSi, 790 W. Tennessee Ave., Denver, CO

This evening marks the opening of the Alice in Wonderland exhibition at AlSi Ceramics with works of art from all kinds of media and styles. Guests are encouraged to come and see the weird and wonderful at The Gallery. The exhibition runs until November 4, 2024.

Kevin Hart: Acting my age

Jackalope Indie Craft Fair

When: October 5 – 6, 10am – 5pm
Where: 5726 Olde Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, CO
Costs: Free
The low point:

More than 100 hand-selected artisans will be at the Jackalope in Old Town Arvada offering original fashion and jewelry design, stationery, home décor and housewares, art, photography, food and more. Visitors will find activities like the Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt, as well as live paintings, caricatures and more from Ethan’s Gallery, or natural henna tattoos with custom designs from Old Soul Henna. There will also be live music and food trucks. More information about the free fair can be found here.
