Garth Brooks filed a complaint against his accuser in a US court in the weeks before his sexual abuse allegations came to light, according to documents obtained by We weekly.

Brooks, 62, identified only as “John Doe,” claims his accuser, identified as “Jane Roe,” tried to extort and defame him with “false accusations” that would “irreparably damage” his reputation.

The documents show that Brooks claims that Roe, now known as his former hairstylist and makeup artist, asked Brooks for money when she encountered financial difficulties. Brooks says he initially complied, but her demands kept increasing until she asked for a salary and medical benefits. When Brooks refused, the filing says, she responded “with false and outrageous allegations of sexual misconduct.”

In addition to the sexual misconduct allegations, which we now know includes an accusation of rape, allegedly exposing himself and sending sexually explicit text messages, Brooks claims that Roe also accused him of planning to hire someone to kill her.

Garth Brooks was accused of sexual assault and battery and the lawsuit contains some shocking claims. On Thursday, October 3, news broke that Brooks, 62, was named in documents filed by a “Jane Roe.” In the lawsuit, the country’s superstar was accused of raping a woman who worked as a hairstylist and make-up artist for (…)

Brooks’ complaint cites multiple demand letters from Roe allegedly sent in July and August, demanding “millions of dollars.” He asks the court to grant him “declaratory judgment that the defendant’s allegations against him of sexual misconduct are untrue,” compensatory and punitive damages, and more. Brooks has also demanded a jury trial.

In a separate complaint obtained by We weekly and filed on October 1, Roe responded by calling Brooks’ allegations an “obvious attempt to game the legal system.”

“With a draft of Ms. Roe’s California sexual abuse complaint in hand, Mr. Doe rushed to this courthouse in an apparent attempt to further control and harass his sexual abuse victim,” the complaint reads. “Mr. Doe initiated this frivolous action after learning that Ms. Roe intended to hold him accountable for his behavior and sexual assault.

The complaint further states that Brooks “improperly used the Declaratory Judgment Act in a desperate attempt to prevent the truth from coming to light.”

In the time since Roe’s allegations came to light, Brooks has publicly denied any wrongdoing.

“Over the past two months, I have been endlessly harassed with threats, lies and tragic stories about what my future would be if I did not write a multi-million dollar check,” he said in a statement Thursday. October 4. “It was like waving a loaded gun in my face. “Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my eyes, this means admitting to behavior that I am not capable of: ugly acts that no human being should ever do to another. Nearly a month ago, we filed suit against this individual to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We submitted it anonymously, in the interest of the families on both sides.”

Brooks concluded, “I want to play music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds in the future. It breaks my heart that these wonderful things are now up for debate. I trust the system, I am not afraid of the truth, and I am not the man they have portrayed me to be.”
