LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada State Police have released the identity of the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a commercial truck.

Police say 52-year-old Shawn Robert Saenz stepped in front of the northbound truck for unknown reasons and later died at the scene of the crash.

On September 29, just after 1 a.m., State Troopers responded to the crash near IR15 and mile marker 54.

Officials shared that this was just north of the northbound ramp.

NSP reported that the driver of the white 2016 Freightliner truck attempted to swerve to the left, but was unable to do so and struck the pedestrian.

The driver of the commercial vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

This is 62 fatal crashes so far in 2024, according to the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol report.
