Lavonte David responds to rankings.

Lavonte David has been on a media tour since the Bucs beat the Eagles on Sunday, when David had two sacks, a forced fumble and a great game.

It started with David on the phone for a national interview in the cheerful Bucs locker room after a solo spot on the Buccaneers Radio Network.

Yesterday, David joined FS1 and was peppered with questions from former Bucs receiver Keyshawn Johnson.

Johnson is a big Bucs supporter this season, unlike many in the national media. He posts power rankings every week and Tampa Bay landed at No. 5 yesterday. Johnson shared his rankings with David (screenshot above) and Johnson didn’t shy away from putting the Lions at No. 4 even though the Bucs beat them two weeks ago in Detroit.

Johnson asked David for feedback, and Joe was a little surprised to hear David talk about how to rank the Bucs’ No. 1 pick.

David said the Bucs handle what they do and ignore the outside noise, and the Bucs feel like there isn’t a team they can’t compete with and beat.

It was said that Todd Bowles talked to the roster before this season about reaching the Super Bowl. There was no “If you win the division, anything can happen.” The message was about building on last season’s play-off win and reaching the ultimate game.

Joe is glad the Bucs have confidence. They should be.
