Comfortable fall weather, next weather bringing damaging winds and critical fire weather

HIGH WIND WATCH in effect Friday afternoon through Friday evening for the West Glacier Region, Bitterroot/Sapphire Mountains, Butte/Blackfoot Region, Potomac/Seeley Lake Region, Beaverhead, Madison and Gallatin Counties. There will be a south-westerly wind blowing at 30 to 40 km/h, with gusts of up to 60 km/h possible.

FIREMAN’S WATCH in effect Friday afternoon through Friday evening for the Deerlodge/Beaverhead National Forest. Low humidity and gusty winds make firefighters critical. Southwest to west 20 to 30 km/h with wind gusts up to 50 km/h. Local wind gusts of more than 60 km/h. Minimum humidity: 10 to 15 percent.

High pressure will develop again today and Friday. Plenty of sunshine is expected, with highs in the 60s and 70s. Overnight/Friday morning lows will be in the 20s and 30s.

A weak front arrives late Friday. The front is characterized by strong winds and some isolated showers. Isolated damaging wind gusts are a concern as the wind suddenly changes direction with the passage of the front. Wind gusts of 40 to 60 km/h are possible on Friday.
