    If you’re a fan of “Mean Girls,” you know that the October 3 date is a little more “fetch” than the other days of the year.

    Since the release of the hit comedy film in 2004, October 3 has often been referred to and celebrated as ‘Mean Girls’ Day. Why is that the case?

    At the beginning of the film, Cady Heron, played by Lindsay Lohan, starts talking to her lover “more and more often.” In a voiceover from a montage of her interactions with her crush, Aaron Samuels, played by Jonathan Bennett, Lohan says, “On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was.”

    “It’s October 3rd,” Lohan says in the scene.

    The now-famous scene has inspired fans of the film to post memes and pay tribute to the film every year on the date. Even some movie stars have taken part in the tradition.

    In 2022, as part of a promotion for her film “Falling for Christmas,” Lohan and Netflix made a joint post on Instagram with the caption, “It’s October 3rd. Mark your calendar for November 10th now.’

    Lohan also posted a photo of the scene to Instagram on the date in 2021, with the caption “It’s October 3rd.”

    Tina Fey’s adaptation of the Broadway musical, originally inspired by the 2004 film, presents a new twist on the modern classic, praises Paramount Pictures, the production house behind the film.

    “It’s actually not a bad thing, but it mostly feels like an unnecessary thing,” says Truitt.

    “Mean Girls” 2.0, directed by Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr., was written by Tina Fey, who also stars in the film, and premiered on January 12.
